Social Projects

The language school Atahualpa offers the possibility to learn Spanish in charity projects for children.

Participation in these projects is free of charge. It takes place within a tourist stay and is therefore limited to 90 days.

The voluntary work speeds up the learning process because it encourages communication in Spanish. But what even counts more is the fact that you can help children who possess hardly anything else than their proper lives.

For all the projects a Spanish course of two weeks is obligatory. Lessons can be taken before your volunteer activity or during the first two weeks within such a project. Voluntary work can further be extended in all projects with or without Spanish course.

If you have no previous knowledge we ask you to take your Spanish course prior to working in a project, either in our school or on journey.

Participation in a child relief project requires a lot of self-initiative and organisation ability. It will be a valuable experience for you.

 
The communities involved keep asking us for volunteers who wish to help in the following areas:

Work in state-run educational institutions in Ecuador (teaching English)
  • Nursery schools and preschools (children aged 3 to 6)
  • Primary schools (Escuelas Públicas), 1st to 6th class (children aged 6 to 12) 

Work in homes for orphans and street kids, financed by donations
  • Children´s home Fundación Tío (children aged 5 to 12)
  • Children´s home Aliñambi (children aged 5 to 15)
  • Projects for street kids in Quito (primary school with education facilities)

Skilled work in hospitals and dental practices
  • Hospital of Sangolqui
